The University of Finance and Management in Bialystok opened its doors on October 1st 1993.  It is the oldest non-public higher learning facility in the region and one of the oldest in Poland.  Other than its headquarters in Bialystok, there is a subsidiary branch of the University in Elk and a Satellite Department in Ostrow Mazowiecka.  In 2012 the school ranked first in the region among non-public higher learning institutions offering master’s degrees.  Also in 2012, the University was awarded the title of "The School of Leaders" (Uczelnia Liderow).The UFMiB offers diverse opportunities of education in the areas of economics, sociology, humanities and technology.  Our educational offer includes bachelor’s degrees in: management, European studies, English philology, finance and accounting, land management, economics, information technology and building econometrics, Russian for business; and master’s degrees in: management, finance and accounting, English philology, land management.  Through our participation in the Erasmus student exchange program, the best students can also spend parts of their studies in colleges abroad (in Finland, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Turkey or Romania).   Our educational offer is additionally enriched by study programs in English, which fulfils the expectations of Polish students and at the same time allows the admission of foreign students.  Students from Turkey, India, Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine who are not a part of the Erasmus program also currently study at the University.  An important supplement to our educational offer is a wide array of doctoral degrees and continued education courses which are attended by approximately 500 people annually.   The University has at its disposal a modern educational facility enriched through its involvement in various projects financed by the European Union funds.  The implementation of one such project allowed for the realization of an e-learning educational program, the activation of new postgraduate studies, as well as technical, program and methodological support of education in the fields of spatial analysis (using GIS technology) and technical sciences.  Professional conference halls (for 440 and 120 people) and lecture halls furnished with multimedia equipment, as well as guest rooms, are available to institutions not affiliated with the University for conferences, seminars and cultural events.
